Privacy
Last updated: 1 November 2026.
This is my site, and this page is me telling you what happens when you open it. I wrote it myself instead of generating one, so everything below is something that actually happens here. Where something is not ideal, I have said so rather than phrasing it away.
The short version: I run no analytics, I have no mailing list, there is no account to make, and I set no cookies of my own. Four other companies see something when you visit. GitHub, Google, CookieYes — the service that runs the consent banner — and YouTube if you press play. The rest of this page is about them.
Who to write to
I’m Daria. The site is mine and I answer my own mail: hello@dariascozynest.com. If you want to know what I hold about you, or you want something deleted, that address is the whole procedure. Nobody else reads it.
Where the site lives
These pages are plain files. There is no database, no login, no form, and no code of mine running on a server. The whole site is built once and then just sits there as HTML.
GitHub Pages serves it. Like every web server in the world, theirs records the IP address a request came from, along with the browser’s user agent and the page asked for, and keeps that for a while for security and abuse handling. I never see those logs and I cannot search them. What GitHub does with them is covered by GitHub’s own privacy statement.
Cookies
I set none. The only cookie this site puts on your device is the one the consent banner uses to remember what you chose, so that it stops asking you on every page. I have given that one its own page: the Cookie Policy.
The fonts
Two typefaces, Quicksand and Vollkorn, load from Google Fonts. That means your browser asks Google’s servers for a font file, and Google sees your IP address and which page asked for it. No cookie comes back, but the request is real and I would rather it did not happen.
Moving those two files onto my own server would end it, and that is on my list. Until it is done, this page says so instead of pretending the request is not there.
The videos
Every post shows a still of the video. That picture comes from YouTube’s own image server, so Google sees your IP address for the image even if you never press play. I use it because it means a post looks finished without me uploading a second copy of a picture that already exists.
What does not load is the player. There is no YouTube iframe, no YouTube script and no YouTube cookie on the page until you tap the play button yourself. Tapping play is the informed action: it is the moment you decide to let YouTube in, and nothing before it hands them anything but the request for that one image.
When you do tap it, the player that loads is the youtube-nocookie.com one, which holds back the advertising and profiling cookies. From that point you are watching a YouTube video, under Google’s privacy policy, the same as if you had opened it on their site.
Links out
The YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest links in the header and the footer are ordinary links. Nothing of theirs loads while you are on my pages — no widget, no badge, no follow button, no counter. Those sites only learn anything about you if you click through, and then you are on their site under their rules.
Analytics
There is no analytics on this site today. No Google Analytics, no Plausible, no pixel, no heat map, nothing counting visits. I genuinely do not know how many people read any of this, and so far I have been fine with that.
If that changes, three things happen before it does: this page says which tool it is, the Cookie Policy lists what it sets, and the thing itself sits behind the consent banner, switched off unless you say yes.
The editing door
There is an address on this site, /admin/, where I write and edit posts. It talks to GitHub and asks me to sign in. It is not part of what a reader loads and it collects nothing from anyone but me.
What you can ask me for
I hold almost nothing, so most of this is short. These are yours regardless, and asking costs you one email to hello@dariascozynest.com.
- Access. Ask what I have about you. Usually the honest answer is “nothing at all”, and I will say exactly that rather than send you a form.
- Erasure. If you have written to me and you would like the message and anything in it gone, say so and I will delete it from my mailbox.
- Objection. If something on this page sits badly with you, tell me. There is no profiling to object to and no advertising, but you are entitled to say no and have it mean something, and a site this small can act on that in a day.
- Complaint. If you are in the EU and you think I have handled something badly, you can take it to your national data protection authority. I would rather you came to me first, but that route is yours and it does not need my permission.
If you write to me
Your message sits in my mailbox so that I can answer it, and it stays there the way email does. I am not going to pretend I run a retention schedule. Ask me to delete a thread and I will.
When this page changes
The date at the top is the last time I changed anything here. If something material changes, a new tool or a new embed or anything that starts collecting, I will change it here before it goes live, not afterwards.
